NSOF Athlete Ambassador Program

What is an NSOF Athlete Ambassador?

An NSOF Athlete Ambassador is a dedicated supporter of the Navy Special Operations Foundation, utilizing their personal platforms to raise awareness and support for the foundation. This role is open to individuals of all athletic abilities who are passionate about promoting the needs and awareness of the Navy Special Operations community. Whether you're a competitive athlete or a fitness enthusiast, your commitment helps shine a light on the important work of NSOF and fosters greater support from the broader community. Through participation in athletic events, social media engagement, and community outreach, ambassadors play a key role in advancing the mission to support, honor, and empower our Navy Special Operations heroes and their families.

Shane Schwarze

Gulf Coast Ironman
 Shane has been an active duty Deep Sea Navy Diver for 11 years, with deployments all across the globe. Currently, he is part of the Navy's only Saturation Fly Away Dive System team. Inspired by the support he received from NSOF, he joined the NSOF Athlete Ambassador Program to give back and raise awareness for the invaluable resources NSOF provides to our Navy EOD and Navy Diver communities.

Branden Vriens

Born to Run Ultra Marathon
Branden Vriens is a retired Navy EOD Operator who served from 2012 to 2023. During his career, he deployed to Iraq with SEAL Team 7 and faced numerous challenges, including sustaining a TBI that ultimately led to his medical retirement. For Branden, this journey is not just about finishing a race. He's dedicating this feat to the EOD Technicians we have lost outside the combat zone, as they are not honored enough.

Lars Brown

Honolulu Marathon
Lars Brown is a Navy Saturation Diver with 8.5 years of service. His career has taken him to some of the most extreme environments on the planet, from the swamps of Papua New Guinea to the frigid waters of the Arctic Ocean. In addition to his operational experience, he is a Navy Command Fitness Leader and a dedicated Hybrid Athlete, balancing endurance, strength, and resilience.

Matt Byington

After running the Boston Marathon while attending Harvard Business School, Matt completed his next, very impressive challenge: The Sea Shore 50k! Matt's commitment and extraordinary efforts resulted in raising an incredible $18,641 for our heroes and their families!

Mike King

$4,055 Raised!
After retiring from his fighting career, Mike has had the burning sensation to give back to our heroes. Connected to Navy EOD through a good friend, he found the NSOF Athlete Ambassador Program. Mike feels that "what better to serve than by serving the men and women who serve on our front lines".
